The Dell Laser Printer 3100CN has all the advantages of a similar Dell 3000cn (which is at the top of our color laser printer charts for months), including reasonable pricing, strong performance, and excellent image quality. But newer models have some advantages. First, it comes with a 250 sheet paper drawer as standard equipment.

In addition to the 250-sheet main paper drawer, the 3100cn has a 150-sheet tray located behind a folding door from the front; This tray doubles as a versatile feeder. You can also add a 250 sheet paper drawer, or take up to 900 sheets of paper. The Dell 3100cn supports both PCL (Printer Control Language) and PostScript emulation. Dell 3100cn prints black and white very well. The text looks crisp and not too heavy or too light. Even small letters are easy to read. The line art looks almost perfect, and the grayscale test photo displays sharp details and smooth tone transitions. The graphical output looks accurate, though a little light. Like all other models tested, 3100cn does not make us lose the glossy photo quality. The color has no saturation and the detail looks a bit rough.
